Color Forecast 2012
In late 2011, Pantone –the global authority on color– announced the color of the year for 2012: “Tangerine Tango.” According to Pantone, the vivacious reddish-orange will “provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward,” and I fully agree. It is a vibrancy that I forecast seeing throughout all mediums of design this year.
Tangerine Tango is just one of the energetic colors that is among the interior design trends of 2012. This year, interiors will pair vibrant ethnic colors with classy gray, white, and silver tones. Bright colors and luxurious materials are making a bold comeback!
A pop of color is the perfect way to freshen and update a space. A fun way to establish this trend in your home is to paint an accent wall in a daring color or purchase some bright throw pillows for your living room or bed.

Chartreuse pairs perfectly with rich turquoise.

Or go even bolder and reupholster your sofa or introduce a bright centerpiece…
Here is an example of how I brought in some interesting colors and prints into my own home. I designed the Tulip Chair, available through my DLD Custom Line, for my kitchen island and finished it in bright orange leather (left). Close by, at my kitchen table, sits a custom banquette upholstered in Marrakech by Manuel Canovas (right).
What do you think? What colors or design trends do you see happening this year?
